This is my first post in a while. I’ve had a lot on my mind recently but I wanted to do a Christmas post. I enjoy the time of year and I have a lot of fond memories of past Christmases with my family; hot and summery and typically Australian.
I’ve always found it funny that we celebrate Christmas with wintery songs in Australia, so I thought I’d try to come up with a more Aussie take on a Christmas classic.
Hope you enjoy it; it was a lot of fun to write. 😉

Update: It’s December 25th now so I just wanted to add that I hope everyone has a joyous Christmas and my sincerest wishes for a peaceful and safe New Year. I’ll see you all in a couple of days. 😉

WELCOME back. Glad that you are kicking back with double strength… Have missed you immensely. I tend to go up and down with postings… seems there will be a wave of inspirtion and much to write/communicate. Then the wave crashes and I am on the bottom dodging sharp coral reefs.
Well, now you’ve done it! Made me giggle in the middle of the night, that is. 🙂 Your weather reminds me of my year in Hawaii. In December, people walked about in their Hawaiian shirts and shorts whilst decorating their homes with snowflakes and pinecones.
It is quite cool in my desert home, now, but nothing like some parts of my country and Canada; brrrr!
I think it’s brilliant of you to bring in all those uniquely Aussie animals—and Russell Crowe (or does he count in the first category as well?) 😉

Thanks, Deb. It’s good to be posting again; I’ve missed it, although I go through my ups and downs as well. Blogging is very much idea-driven for me, much like writing is as well; if I’m distracted it’s very hard to find the necessary inspiration.
There are a few things I want to write about and I think I’ve been expecting too much from myself, so I’m looking forward to catching up. Hope you have a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year. 😉

We are quite like that with Christmas. It’s strange; we enjoy hot weather and a barbecue, but at the same time we buy wintry scenes and listen to the same music about snow and many of us would love to see a white Christmas. I’m lucky that I experienced it as a child but a warm Christmas is such a part of who I am now that I wouldn’t want it any other way.
I’ll try to stay away from the electricity but I just hope it gets fixed! You’d think three fires would be enough but I guess not. Maybe Santa will fix it.

Thank you, Colourful – or should I say, SantaHills? 😉 It’s interesting just how different the celebrations are in our parts of the world, isn’t it? They’re so different – a time of snow for you, sunshine for us – and yet there is still so much that’s similar as well about what it means to us… that’s what’s always so wonderful about this time of year.
