Swansea Sunset Relics

I had a photoshoot scheduled in Swansea yesterday afternoon but it was cancelled at the last minute. Unfortunately I was already in Swansea when I got the call so rather than just go back home I decided to shoot the sunset instead.

Originally I was going to go on to Caves Beach for the sunset but on the way I found the remains of this little pier hidden behind some houses. I loved the decay and texture and some silly litterbug had even left a bike in the water too.

I spent all of golden hour in that spot and it was a lot of fun. Ironically I used to go to Swansea quite often while we lived at Caves Beach but I’d never shot here before. I guess it shows how sometimes you need to look at somewhere with new eyes to really see it.

Belmont Sunset

Beautiful sunset over the lake at Belmont yesterday evening. There were some very interesting cloud formations and at one stage a plane went across as well, leaving a trail in its wake. It was a lovely sunset.

I decided to shoot a couple of panoramas to capture a bit of a different, wider perspective. Panoramas can be quite tricky to stitch with water but these ones came out well and they work well with the other shots.

Foggy Kotara Morning

Beautiful foggy morning in Kotara a few days ago. I was on the train as the fog rolled in and jumped off at the next stop at Kotara to take a few shots. I like how they came out. They have a bit of a filmic look to them, particularly in black and white.

Dusk 1/9/19

Gold light
Spills across the lake
As the sun sets
On the first day of Spring

Lovely dusk light over the Belmont Baths this afternoon. I almost didn’t go down for the sunset but I’m glad I did. It was a beautiful end to the day and a great way to start Spring.
